Tuesday, December 6

Auditions for the spring musical “The Secret Garden” will be held this week and next. Vocal auditions will be held today and tomorrow. Please sign up on the choir hallway bulletin board. Reading auditions will be Monday, December 12 at 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, December 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the PAC. See Mr. Taylor if you have questions.

FALL SPORTS ATHLETES: All Conference and Academic All-State award winners should meet in the main gym on Thursday at 7:40 a.m. for pictures.

Softball conditioning will be Thursday after school in the weight room until 5:00 p.m. You must have a physical on file to participate.

The deadline for sitting detention hours will be Wednesday, December 14, 2016. If hours are not served, external suspension will be assigned.

Students with 7 or 14 day absences will need to pick up an Appeal For Credit form in the main office. Forms need to be filled out by the student and teacher. Completed forms are due back to the main office by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 9.

There will be a fan bus going to the boys basketball game at Mater Dei tomnight. The bus will leave the circle drive at 5:30 p.m.. The cost is $5 which will cover you ticket. Please sign up in the athletic office.

Attention Fall athletes – patch orders are now being taken for all awards. Order forms are available in the athletic office. Deadline to order is December 7.

SENIORS: Posey Community Foundation Alliance scholarships are now available on their website. The application deadline is Saturday.

The National Honor Society will be having their Christmas breakfast on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. All members are expected to be in attendance. Please see Mr. Riedford or Mr. Wheaton before the meeting if you have a conflict and cannot attend.

Student Volunteers: This Saturday, Mt. Vernon will be planting trees where Roberts Stadium once stood. This area will eventually become a park. If interested in helping in this community service opportunity, please sign up in the cafeteria foyer or see Ms. Edwards or Forrest Gottman.

Yearbooks can be ordered online at https://www.yearbookordercenter.com/  using school order number 17198, or by check made payable to Mt. Vernon Senior High School, Attention Yearbook. The cost is $60.  Senior ads are due by April 10.

Youth First

The Youth First "Most of Us" campaign is a research-based campaign to reduce teen alcohol and substance abuse among high school students by correcting misperceptions and promoting positive social norms.
