Effective with the class of 2005, students shall earn a minimum of 46 credits in order to meet the approved graduation requirements of Mt. Vernon Senior High School. The must earn an additional two credits from the area of technology competency and two from the area of social studies. The areas of technology competency students may choose from are listed below.

*Effective with the class of 2005, students must successfully complete the following coursework in order to meet MVHS Language Arts graducation requirement: English 12 (2 Semesters), OR English 12 (1 Semester and Contemporary Literature 1 Semester) OR English 12 - Honors (2 Semesters).
**The four credits of science shall include content from more than one of the major science disciplines (earth/space, life/biological, or the physical sciences such as chemistry and physics).
***The Health and Safety credit may be waived for a student if the student's program includes three (3) credits from the following Family and Consumer Science courses: (a) Child Development; (b) Human Development and Family Wellness; (c) Interpersonal Relationship; (d) Nutrition and Wellness; (e) Orientation of Life and Careers or (f) Adult Roles and Responsibilities.
